Over the last week or so I have been trying to figure out why all three sweaters have been taking so long to finish. (Even with the needle sizes going up and up and up on each try). And then I had an epiphany:
I only knit sleeves.
The lice stitch Whiskey has been a long time coming, (over a year already?) and once I finally finished the sleeves in lieu of casting on the body, I started the green tweed in November. After finishing those sleeves, instead of casting on that body, last Sunday I cast on the 1st sleeve for the stripes. All together, there has to be a sweaters worth of knitting done, but instead I only have the potential for really warm arms.
So, what did I do after coming to this realization (and subsequent resolution to focus on one sweater -- probably the stripes, because gauge and simplicity are on my side -- and finish it already?)
I cast on for another beret.

ha, you're my complete and total opposite. i could knit a bazillion sweater bodies, but they'd sit around forever, waiting for sleeves. we should do some kind of knitting relay and actually finish some sweaters!
I'm with Melissa; I have all these sweater torsos sitting around waiting for arms.
But what gorgeous sleeves you have! I'm in love with the stripes and the fair isle dots.
Good luck with the finishing thing!
ooooh. more patterns from kate!
your sleeves are very pretty. i'm sure they will get bodies soon enough. what ever.
hahah you're funny :) but sleeves ARE a necessity. think of it this way - you're 50% there!
That's hilarious! I only knit sweater bodies. When I realized last week that I had 3 sweaters without sleeves, I finally cast on. One down, five to go.
at least you'll be done with what is my least favorite part...i feel like the body takes less time to knit than the sleeves, and it seems like a nice, surprise present when i finish the body and realize the sleeves are already done. so you get three of those presents! :)
and you gave me guff for not finishing thermal?!? i see how it is now. just for that,
l. o. l.
you know what that means.
I too can knit sweater body after sweater body. I know I have at least a couple laying around my house...
I'm very excited for that beret pattern!
I was laughing to myself while reading your post as I hate knitting sleeves. I love knitting the body & usually the project will end up as a vest.
I'm totally opposite too, I tend to knit the bodies and never get to the sleeves. Even without the bodies, your sweater sleeves look great. Maybe improvise and make arm warmers! ;)
i just discovered one of your beret patterns on ravelry. i can't wait to cast on! thanks for the free patterns. i think your work is just absolutely lovely, oh and good luck with those sweater bodies.
